Someone who has done this hundreds of times walks your residence and tells you exactly what it wants, room by room, in the order it should happen. You take it from there, at whatever pace you like, with whoever you like.

That includes what to let go of. Rooms are held back more often by what is already in them than by what is missing, and these are personal decisions nobody else will make for you. Hearing it said plainly, by someone with no stake in what replaces it, is usually the part that unlocks the rest.

Every piece named with what it costs, as an informed estimate from what these pieces actually go for. Firm quotes come when there is a project and a date, because that is when a vendor’s time is worth spending.

Priced for a residence of up to eight rooms. We count the rooms that get designed: living, dining, kitchen, entry, each bedroom, and any office, den, or media room. Bathrooms are counted with their bedroom. Larger residences, and residences outside the tri-state area, are quoted by appointment. We have done this work in California, Florida, and Colorado.

Questions

What is the difference between this and the Assessment?

The Record is the whole residence designed, up to eight rooms, across the tri-state area. The Assessment is a ninety minute visit in Manhattan for someone who is deciding rather than committed. It is $2,500 and it is a different engagement, not a smaller version of this one.

Do you order the furniture and manage the work?

No. This is the plan. You execute it with whoever you like, at whatever pace suits you, and we are happy to be introduced to whoever that is. We do run a separate design and build practice, and that is a separate agreement entered only if you ask for it.

We already have an architect or a designer.

Good. The plan is yours to hand to them. Architects in particular have no time for interior specification, and it is the part that decides how the finished residence actually feels.

Is this an appraisal?

No. We never tell you what a home is worth. No valuations, no comparables, no price per foot.

What happens after we request?

We are in touch within two business days and confirm a date. The invoice goes out once the visit is set, payable by bank transfer or card. You or someone you trust is there for the visit, because the plan starts with what you actually want.
